Dear Fellow Glenbrook Club Members,
Spring has arrived at Glenbrook and everyone at the Club, especially our Club Manager Thomas Tenorio, is working hard to get ready for another wonderful summer season. Our golf course is already open for play, thanks to a much milder winter and the ongoing work to improve the course drainage and maintenance systems.
Memorial Day Barbecue
We hope you and your families will be able to attend our Memorial Day barbecue at the Clubhouse on Saturday, May 26th at Noon. This annual event is always a great way to start the summer and reconnect with other members.
Summer 2018 Club Calendar
Click here for the calendar, which includes the hours of operation for the Clubhouse and Golf Shop, as well as dates and times for Club dining, golf, and other special events. Thomas and our Golf Pro, Eric Smith, have many terrific annual and new events planned.
The calendar is also posted on our website at www.glenbrookclub.com. We will update you about any changes to the calendar through our regular summer e-newsletters. If you have problems accessing the members portion of the website, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Club Enhancement Project and Capital Campaign
At our Annual Meeting last August and in our Fall 2017 letter to you, we noted that as part of the Board’s continuing efforts to improve Club facilities and service, we were planning significant enhancements to the Clubhouse and golf course. Some of these improvements are necessary maintenance projects — such as golf course drainage systems. Others — such as our new and expanded bar and bar area— are forward-looking steps to ensure the long-term viability of our Club and the continued growth of our membership.
We also shared in our Fall letter that we are going to fund this project with a voluntary capital campaign, rather than through a member assessment, a higher than average member dues increase, or with reserves only. In January 2018, the Board formally approved the project, with estimated expenditures of $500,000, and a capital campaign to substantially fund this work. I am pleased to report that work started on the renovation of the bar area last week, and we are also underway with the campaign.
Attached here is an overview of the project , including a breakdown of expenditures, and architectural renderings of the new bar and expanded bar area and proposed fire pit on the west lawn. We will be hosting two informational receptions at the Clubhouse on the evenings of June 12 and June 27. Please join us to learn more about the project and to ask any questions you may have.
We will be sending you a letter in the coming weeks asking for your participation in the capital campaign as well as invitations to the two cocktail informational receptions.
2018 Member Dues
You will also be receiving your Glenbrook Club annual dues invoice shortly. The 2018 dues will include a modest 3% increase, as we continue to strive to operate the Club on an efficient basis and deliver excellent service to all our members.
Club Board Nominations
The Club Board is comprised of nine members, and we anticipate one or two possible openings for the next three-year term. If you are interested in being considered for nomination to the Club Board, please contact Dana Jackson, Chair of the Nominating Committee, at email@example.com . Board candidates will be elected at our Annual Meeting to be held on August 10th.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me or any of the other Board Members, who are listed below for your easy reference.
